Re: [orca-list] Orca on Gnome or XFCE on 256 Mb RAM?

Hi Fernando:

That's a very old laptop, but seems to at the bare minimum needed for
Ubuntu 7.04: http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/releasenotes/704.

You might give it a shot. If you manage to get something up and running
on your laptop, I predict your next question will be "why is this so
slow?" ;-)

Hello everyone,

I am a beginner about to setup dual boot on a relatively old laptop with
only 256 Mb RAM and 800Mhz of speed.

Since I only see Gnome mentioned everywhere, I am assuming that Orca and
eSpeak will behave better there than on XFCE. Is this a good assumption?

Would you recommend standard Ubuntu or Xubuntu?

Thanks,

Fernando
