Hi,
in fact /var/run/speech-dispatcher gets deleted when the computer is
shut down. This wasn't the case in the older version, neiter is it the
case on my desktop machine with GRML, which is a Debian based distro.
The user speech-dispatcher belongs to the group audio, as it should be.
I use the espeak module only.
The only workaround I found is adding the following two lines to the
speech-dispatcher startup script:
mkdir /var/run/speech-dispatcher
chown speech-dispatcher:audio /var/run/speech-dispatcher
But that's rather uncommon and not really necessary, if SD would work
correctly.
Hermann
