Hi Michael, all.
Its been one thing that has bugged me from the beginning of using orca,
it refers to the hash/number symbol (#) as pound. This is so wrong, I
Funny you should mention this. As we "speak," I'm changing chnames.py
to add new symbols, among other things. One of the symbols I added was
the (British) pound sign. And I was thinking that the hash/number
symbol should be called number instead. Is there anyone opposed to
that? I saw  and debated whether or not to add it. I had decided
against it, but you've changed my mind. <smile> My handy unicode table
tells me it's the "not sign." If it were pronounced "not" would that be
cool?
Mostly what I want to add are mathematical symbols from the U+2200
table. I'm also adding bullets. But I take requests: Shout out your
favorite missing symbols on the list, along with their ideal (English)
name and I'll get them added.
Michael, I also agree that we should have a user configurable way to
name/rename symbols. It's not practical for us to include every
possible symbol -- and we might not name the ones we do include the way
you might like. <smile> I just entered an RFE (request for
enhancement) in bugzilla:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=431531
Thanks and take care.
Joanie
