Orca brltty and the live CD

Hello,
I've booted the ubuntu 6.10 live cd and been able to load brltty.  While 
I can use brltty in a text console, it puts up a message like:
"not a text terminal" when I go  into the X terminal.  Is there a work 
around for the live cd?  What steps should I take after I install ubuntu 
to get brltty working properly with orca?
