Hello Paul,
Which Linux distribution and version of Open Office are you using? The
reason I ask is because the only time I've ever seen this behavior, it was
with the version of Open Office that shipped with FC5. Although Orca is
able to read that version to some extent, my understanding is that the API
that version utilized for accessibility was never fully implemented.
Therefore, if that is indeed your situation, you will want to install the
latest Open Office Development snapshot instead.
If however, you're not using FC5 and its associated version of Open Office,
then unfortunately, I have no clue.

I am trying to read some materials in open office and each time I arrow
down
through the lines orca keeps reading out paragraph marks. Is there any way
to stop this behaviour in Orca or indeed open office.
