Peter Korn put together a nice summary of GNOME key sequences for
those of us from Sun that went to CSUN in 2003. Here they are.

I suggest working with these, and checking out the full set -- URL included
below -- then see if there is something that isn't covered here.

Important key sequences to burn into your brain:
- Alt-Tab switches between top-level windows; Alt-ESC also raises the
windows in turn as you switch between them
- Ctrl-Alt-Tab switches between gnome panels & the desktop
- F10 brings down the first (leftmost in most locales) menu of a window;
arrow keys to navigate up/down within a menu, left/right between menus
- Tab and Shift-Tab to go forward/backward between UI elements
- Ctrl-Tab and Shift-Ctrl-Tab to go forward/backward from an edit-text
  field
- Arrow keys move between elements too, especially tab panes
- Spacebar activates things (e.g. menus, buttons)
- Esc closes things (e.g. menus, windows)
- Within text, arrow keys move by letter, Ctrl-<left|right arrow> moves
by word, Home & End to start & end of the text.
- F1 is on-line help for the thing with focus (if it has any)
- Ctrl-Alt-<left/right arrow> to move between workspaces if you have
  multiple
- Alt-F7 to start moving a window, arrow keys to move it, spacebar to
  finish, Esc to cancel
- Alt-F8 to start resizing a window, arrow keys to move it, spacebar to
  finish, Esc to cancel
- F6 to navigate paned windows (e.g. the Nautilus view with the pane on
the left) - moving to the next in sequence. F8 to give focus to the resize handles in turn and arrows to re-distribute the pane sizes
