Hi Sergio:
I just checked in a new version of the QUICKSTART document. It
provides an apt-get method for obtaining various AT-SPI infrastructure
needed by Orca: atk, gail, libgail-gnome, and at-spi. If the
anonymous GNOME CVS site is slow to get these revisions, the
key command is:
sudo apt-get install libatk* libgail* at-spi* libatspi*
This should obtain the following versions:
atk 1.10.3
gail 1.8.5
libgail-gnome 1.1.1
at-spi 1.6.6
Note, however, that Orca is under continual development and we
are logging bugs as we go. Even the above components may have
bugs in them that have been fixed in later versions. As these
bugs are fixed, we become dependent upon them. We're doing our
best to track these bugs here, providing us and others with the
ability to make a choice about what to install:
<http://cvs.gnome.org/viewcvs/*checkout*/orca/bugs/bugs.html>
Welcome to the bleeding (and often painful) edge! :-)

Hi Sergio:
I need to do a quick amendment to these instructions. The reason
my Ubuntu system was in an unknown state is that there appears to
be a regression introduced in some version of something in GNOME
CVS HEAD. This regression is causing Orca to behave badly. As
a result, there may be something in the QUICKSTART instructions
that could possibly cause you to pull in this bad thing.
I'm in the process in determining just what that something is and
will post the results here and update the QUICKSTART document
accordingly.

Hi Sergio:
The best place to start is by getting the Orca sources from
GNOME CVS HEAD and then following the instructions in
the ./QUICKSTART document.
I actually have put my Ubuntu breezy system in a very bad an
unknown state, so I will be reinstalling it today and taking
more detailed notes.
Hope this helps,
Will
