    I am a student interested in CORBA.I am not
not an expert to solve your problem.But I would be glad if I could at least understand it.

    What is this scale up problem? Is the problem regarding memory or speed? What are 
the constraints of ACE? What support you expect
from the ORB?

Typically ORB,s support many features and services for general purpose.You may not need them.I feel you can exclude those( by editing source code) and recompile the ORB.

above things.
