CORBA & gnome

Are there differences between
orb= gnome_CORBA_init("prog", VERSION, &argc, argv, 0 , &ev);
and
orb= CORBA_ORB_init(&argc, argv, "orbit-local-orb", &ev);

because with gnome one my program work,
it can bind the object.
but i need to not initialise GNOME libraries

Any Ideas ??
