I have never tried that and I'd recommend
https://wiki.gnome.org/HowDoI/Jhbuild instead. 
Others might have other opinions, of course. :)

In general, there seem to be too many "How to use jhBuild" pages on
GNOME wiki...

The error happens because "use_lib64" was removed a month ago:

But no idea how to fix that in your case. :(
