how to do command line

Hi there,

sometimes I stuck with fedora and nm, having a freshly installed
machine with no network, and even no gui, so I should be able to
configure my dsl connection via command line.

I tried to use nmcli but it was not easy and did not work for me. Is
there any other alternative?

And/or, what is the should-read on the subject? nmcli man does not
explain how to configure a dsl connection.
