The automatic probing of generic serial ports wreck havoc with a lot of 
things that are controlled via serial ports. (E.g. serial consoles for 
some embedded devices etc). 

I think we need a way to specify in e.g. udev which ports are not to be 
touched by modem manager at all.

Of all the things I attach serially to my computer only a very few are 
modems. Most break horribly when modemmanager is allowed to touch them.
