Re: "wifi not working on ubuntu, when it did before upgrades"

OK, we now have wifi -- sometimes. Then it disconnects, and usually reinits and reconnects within a few seconds. This is with erratic timing. See below.

This last time on reboot, the nm-applet was not in the sys notification area. When I re-ran it manually, it was obvious that the applet was running but not in the tray. This has been a continuing issue, but also erratic on reboot.

Also, every few minutes the applet looks into the default keychain for the password, doesn't seem to find it, and asks for the WPA/WPA2 key.

There's an additional state change near the bottom of this output.

Thanks for your assistance.

I thought I'd try something, so I unplugged the ethernet:

=============

Still no wifi, no nm-applet, no questions asked about the keychain. NM did not respond this time to the ethernet disconnect.... and no wireless connection, either.

When I plugged the ethernet back in, I got network again, but only wired...
