Re: disconnected from wireless network

Hi Dan!

I tested out my Intel Prism 2.5 based card and it seems to work OK in

But be sure to have up-to-date firmware. My card started out with STA
1.5.6 and was _NOT_ happy with hostap in Fedora 9 at all, which isn't
unusual for such old firmware.

I flashed PRI 1.1.1 and STA 1.7.4 and it seems to be working quite a bit
better now. I'd suggest those versions since they will give you WPA
support too :) There have been reports that the 1.8.x STA firmware
isn't quite stable, so I'd suggest 1.7.4 for now.

wifi0: PRI: id=0x15 v1.1.1
wifi0: STA: id=0x1f v1.7.4

I used pk010101.hex and sf010704.hex to flash the Intel card with. If
you do flash the card, make sure to you have NIC id 8013 like I do, the
firmware version you use is dependent on the NIC id. Of course I'm not
responsible if you fry the card :)

Finally my wireless adapter works too! The solution was not to rename wlan0 to eth1 (anaconda configured that). In /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules there was a line:

# PCI device 0x1260:0x3873 (hostap_pci) (custom name provided by external tool) SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{address}=="00:05:3c:09:5e:d5", ATTR{type}=="1", KERNEL=="wlan*", NAME="eth1"

I had to rewrite eth1 to wlan0 and now the wireless connection works fine.
