That seemed to do the trick...
BUT
I just upgraded to Gutsy Gibbon and it seems like something's running too fast. It never hooks up to the network after bootup - It prompts me for my keyring password, then the whirling icon appears, then NM says it can't find any networks and shows the no network icon. I just have to reselect my network, then it works fine.

Could try, from a command line:
gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /system/networking/wireless/networks/linksys
