Lspci tells me it's an Atheros NIC AR5005VL 802.11bg (rev01). I am using Driverloader by Linuxant which is based on Ndis wrapper to load the XP driver for the card.

There is a native Linux driver called madwifi so you don't have a need
to use Driverloader.

It has some issues with signal strength reporting but it is almost
certainly better than Driverloader.
