This bug has been fixed in latest 0.6.x branch SVN. It was caused by
race conditions and drivers that can't decide whether or not they
actually _have_ a carrier for the first 5 or so seconds, and spam
netlink with ping-pong carrier on/off messages. But it should be fixed
now in SVN.
