I'm sorry that you had troubles with the BCM94311MCG in your laptop, but I think most of your problems are fixed in driver b43 in any of the 2.6.24-rcX kernels. In any case, the place to report such problems is bcm43xx-dev lists berlios de

FC8 has 2.6.23.  I suppose FC9 might do the trick.  Or maybe they'll backport
some fixes.

Even when internal wireless works (and I have a PCMCIA card with working
linux support, which is similar in usability to internal), I still prefer
external USB wireless for the reasons mentioned (can be positioned
independently from the laptop).

But it is nice when the internal wireless is available in case you need it.
