Hello,
I recently upgraded my router from a D-Link DI-624 to a TRENDnet
TEW-611BRP router. Network Manager 0.4.1 on Ubuntu 5.10 connecting to
my D-Link worked great using DHCP and WEP. The radio in the D-Link
starting failing, so hence the reason for the new router.
Anyways, when I first connected the TRENDnet right out of the box, using
a wired connection, NM wouldn't acquire an IP from the router. It kept
trying to renew it. I have a copy of the log file from the router, and
here are a couple entries from it:
--------- BEING LOG ---------
[INFO] Mon Apr 10 20:44:26 2006 Assigned new lease 192.168.0.69 to client 00123FF06B96
[INFO] Mon Apr 10 20:44:21 2006 Lease 192.168.0.69 renewed by client 00123FF06B96

--------- END LOG ---------
As you can see, about every 3-5 seconds, NM keeps asking for an IP.
Never did this with the D-Link. I also tried connecting to the TRENDnet
with the wireless, and it did the same thing. I finally uninstalled NM
and used Gnome Networking and it connects right up.
So, question is, is this a bug with NM? Incompatibility of NM and this
TRENDnet? I haven't tried upgrading NM to the latest version, as I
usually just wait for Ubuntu's repositories to upgrade.
Thanks for any suggestions!
Shawn
