Cold boot to wired produces a no-connection icon about 20% of the time
even though a connection has been established. It appears that NM is
completing the activation before nm-applet comes up so the change of
state signal sent by NM to nm-applet must be falling on the floor some
of the time. My Gnome 2.10 gweather applet updates temperature in this
scenario because the network is up before the applets come up.
When booting to wireless, NM activation has to wait for a key from
GCconf. This keeps NM from completing activation before nm-applet is up.
In this case, gweather update has to be done manually. Gnome 2.12 should
fix the gweather update problem.
