Install bind did the trick. My wireless driver ipw2200 does not yet
report scan signal strength. With CVS-12-16-04, NM would connect to my
home and campus networks nonetheless. With CVS-12-21-04, it seems to
give up trying to connect in Infrastructure mode and jumps to Ad-Hoc mode.
