When selecting Preferences > Display > Icon Captions and trying to
change the first entry from 'None' to 'Size' or any of the other
options in the drop-down Nautilus will crash however nothing is
written
to /var/crash.

This has been happening for a long time and didn't happen when I was
running 3.20.* from the PPA however I've regressed back to the 3.18
version lately.

Sorry to reply to myself, it appears to be suddenly fixed. I had been
clicking on the first option which was empty which caused the crash.
After changing the third option and moving up to the first it now no
longer crashes. Apologies for the noise to the list.
