How to let Nautilus ALWAYS show "Hidden files" (resp. rememeber last setting)?

Subject: How to let Nautilus ALWAYS show "Hidden files" (resp. rememeber last setting)?

Whenever I start my system with Nautilus v2.30 and browse through the file+folder tree I have to re-select
"show hidden files" from "View" menu.

Why can't Nautilus remember this setting?

Is there a way to force Nautilus to start with enabled "show hidden files" mode?
