Problem: focus not holding on intermediate items

Dear List Members,

There is a requirement to enhance nautilus-desktop-window. I am trying to add feature that should traverse from first item to last item on a key press on desktop icon view (Gnome desktop). When moving 1 by 1 by keyboard_down then working properly. When I am trying to put the key_press_event/keyboard_down (nautilus-icon-container.c) in loop then focus is directly going from first to last item, not holding on intermediate items. 

Please help to trace the problem and suggest the possibilities.
