I don't see why this is so? Many things are useful to have in each
window. For instance the places menu (even if its also in the panel).

Maybe it should be in the panel too.

Why does this mean they can't be in the spatial window too. Having to
move all your windows to access the desktop icons is very inefficient.
Using the panel menu means moving the mouse further, and makes keyboard
access impossible, slowing you down.
There is nothing inherently wrong about this redundancy.

You can reach fonts:// from the font capplet. I don't really think its
an important enough location to take space in the other quick-open
locations.

Yes. We want to use the gtk+ bookmarks for both places and the nautilus
bookmarks. It didn't happen for this release though, since we're past
feature freeze.
