Sorry for confusion, that has nothing to do with your problem. I
attached my own problem to the beginning of your thread, because I had
the same symptoms (burner can't be selected in burn dialog), but what
seemed a different cause. And indeed, my problem was the grsecurity
kernel patch I had applied.

I hope you find a solution too
