This isn't a nautilus issue. You don't have to access to the desktop via
nautilus, because the desktop is "where you are" by default. If you want
to put something on it, just drag it on the wallpaper of your screen.
What's really annoying me is that KDE "Desktop" directory in my home. I
don't use KDE, so it's confusing : this "Desktop" folder isn't mine !!!!!
The problem is : how to access your desktop from applications ? The
desktop folder should be a possible choice in the file-selector of every
application. It is in the ximian version of gtk . There are three buttons
in the default file-selector : Home, Desktop, Documents, which point to ~,
.gnome-desktop and ~/Documents.
This is Macos policy, this is Beos policy. I think this is is not in
Windows (excuse me if I fail : I don't use...). This should be the gnome
policy. Maybe in Gnome-2.2 ?
