[Nautilus-list] Re: Constructive Criticism Revisted

One other thing, the spinner/throbber is a pain in the ass. It takes up
useful room on the toolbar and it's not very original. I was thinking of
a alternative method for informing the user that nautilus is thinking.
Just display a transparent gnome foot over the center of the nautilus
display window as a top layer. Things can render underneath the
transparent foot. When it's finished, the transparent foot disappears.
You could just keep a static transparent gnome foot or a dynamic one
that flashes or what not. A static transparent foot should be enough to
inform the user that nautilus is thinking and shouldn't produce much if
any overhead.
