They are the same because there haven't been big improvements to the
number or sort of file operations (that I know of) in GNOME2. I would
say Nautilus2 feels slightly slower on this operation actually, because
the load relays-out a couple extra times.
The other operations are much faster than Nautilus 1 perhaps in part due
to a new window change Darin made, and probably mostly due to Bonobo UI
fixes.
