Re: [Nautilus-list] Nautilus Goals

How 'bout, "Konqueror used to be MUCH faster" :-)

I just performed timings using CVS Nautilus (soon-to-be Nautilus 1.0.4).
It should be noted that I'm using the latest and greatest Bonobo
(release) which contains a significant performance improvement for
opening new windows (in particular). I performed each test twice, which
is good because there were some timings that look anomalous.

Can I emphasize that this should not be a "my dick is bigger than yours"
contest? I realize that its not "fair" to compare an
as-of-yet-unreleased Nautilus against an old Konqueror, but the point
here is not fighting, the point is motivation to fix things. That's why
its friendly competition *grin*. We're not all the way there yet on
performance, but this should be a big ataboy compared to our 1.0
performance :-)

I'll give more detailed information about the tests later, and
explanations of some weirdnesses experienced.
