I think this looks OK.

The only thing I didn't check is whether the menu items in the Edit menu 
get a separator or not. Maybe these should go in a separate menu of their 
own instead of on the Edit menu.

Go ahead and commit even if you don't resolve that problem, but it would 
be best if we could create a new menu rather than adding to the bottom of 
the Edit menu without a separator. It shouldn't be too hard to create a 
new menu, but we'd probably need a new UI XML file for the text view.
