Task-assignment rules vary from module to module in Bugzilla, but in
most modules it's only "whoever wants to fix a problem or take a look at
it assigns it to himself". To un-assign a bug from someone else you
naturally need a bit more of Bugzilla access though. I'd start with just
adding a comment to the comment that explained that I was looking into
it.
Andy, are you planning on looking into
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40124 right now? If not, do
you mind if Mikael Lindberg <d94ml efd lth se> looks into it? Should the
bug assignment be changed?

Hopefully, some of the Nautilus hackers will be able to answer specific
questions.

This can probably be improved later on, I wouldn't worry about that part
right now. But that's just my opinion.
