This might be a bit OT already but mx11mark could be one useful benchmarking tool as well. It measures mainly the xrender performance on the relevant parts. So basically, without a hw accelerated X.Org 2d driver, it measures the pixman performance. http://sandbox.movial.com/wiki/index.php/Mx11mark "Movial X11 Mark is a customizable tool for benchmarking X11 operations. It was created for the purpose of executing benchmarks that approximate the profile of real-life applications, instead of a synthetic set of tests that existing tools use. The sequence of benchmarks to run, as well as some overall parameters, is defined by a simple script file." -- Tuomas Kulve, Movial Creative Technologies Inc.
