Contributions Summary:
This is renewal application so I am a Fundation member for past 2 years. I already have a Jabber account but
I don't have a mail alias.
I've continued to maintain libgee library and over past year, starting with 0.8 release, it started being
released regularly on Gnome schedule (https://git.gnome.org/browse/libgee/refs/tags). The 0.8 series
introduced, among others, functional programming interface, futures, lock-free collections and other features.
I've also started contributing towards Vala primarily for bug fixes I've encountered (for example
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=659778). Recently I started investigation of potential slowdowns
in Vala and how to fix them (http://blog.piechotka.com.pl/2013/05/18/vala-abi-and-branch-prediction/,
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=706712, https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=659778) -
toward this goal I started writing custom LLVM passes
(http://blog.piechotka.com.pl/2013/09/28/pre-announcing-vallvm/ - not released yet although it is likely that
I will have something working by the end of month). On last GUADEC I discussed also the possibility of adding
generics support to GIR with Collin Walters (some parts of discussion are posted at
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=639908).
I also sometimes contribute to other Gnome projects as well as participating in Vala G+ community.
References:
I believe that current foundation member who is closest to Vala development would be Zeeshan Ali Khattak
<zeeshanak gnome org>. Unfortunately many others active developers (Jürg Billeter <j bitron ch>, Luca Bruno
<lucabru src gnome org>, Florian Brosch <flo brosch gmail com>, ...) are not members.
