Re: time to resume work?

There's the problem of the elections calendar: we have to provide a
calendar soon to tell people how and when things will be done.

Absolutely, as far as I'm concerned this is the next big thing that we
concentrate on, for the time being, while the board are deciding on the
way forward in terms of the foundation membership and the committee...

Here's what we had (correct me if I'm wrong):

Yeah, this looks great....although I'm guessing that it would be good to
announce the elections real soon now, so that people have time to think
whether they will stand for candidacy or not. We should start to put
together guidelines of what is expected from each candidate, and indeed,
start to think about the questions that we ask all candidates. 

Hopefully this year we'll manage to get a little bit more control and
order into the process, since everything last time was a bit rushed.

I'd like to see an IRC meeting where people could ask some things to the
candidates. This could be organized in november. Maybe the week-end
before the ballots go out ?

Oh, that would be an interesting idea, although I'm not sure how
possible it would be with the various timezone issues that we have.

As for the questions emailed to the candidates: where do they come from
? From the current board ? I think it would be great to be open to
questions from members and select 10 questions.

The last time, IIRC, Dan Mueth came up with a list of questions...and I
see no reason for the membership committee to come up with them, perhaps
in combination with the board members?

I'm sure there's heaps of stuff that we need to get done - since I
wasn't involved in the elections process last year, I'm not entirely
sure what's needed to be done with the voting scripts and the mailing of
the ballots.....we should probably ask Mike if he's willing to give some
guidance on this stuff...
