Is this only in the 3.x series ? I have not seen it in the 1.x

I've been able to "help" meld do this by (temporary) inserting some unique

Meld has sync point support already, and has for the last year.
Unfortunately we have to disabled interactive highlighting while it's
enabled for irritating performance reasons. This is definitely
fixable, but turned out to be hard.
