I use the MacPorts distro of meld (1.6.1) on Mac OSX 10.6.8, runs great. I use XQuartz (2.7.5 ... just upgraded) version of X11.

I tend not to update macPorts unless I absolutely have to.

Typing "meld" in Terminal only returns warnings and X11 opens without anything to show. I read your instructions in /meld-1.8.4/INSTALL but I don't know if these apply to Meld when installed by MacPorts.
