I can reproduce this with Ubuntu 13.04 and 13.10 and with current
master branch (3ef9951f), but I see the same thing at 126bdb8b (the
commit that introduced the port to Distutils). The command

  sudo ./setup.py install

gives

  error: can't copy 'data/icons/HighContrast/scalable/apps': doesn't
exist or not a regular file

data/icons/HighContrast/scalable/apps does exist but it's a folder.

I'm fine with just linking to bin/meld but I wanted to report this. I
understand that I'm dealing with a development branch, but I wanted to
make sure you were aware of this. Let me know if there's any other
information I can provide.

Thanks. At the moment I'm surprised that that's the biggest problem, but
it's good to know nonetheless. I'll take a look when I get a chance, but I
think an extensive dive into distutils awaits me for other reasons anyway.

Thanks for the response Kai. Since distutils was just introduced I
figured there were a lot of things that need to be ironed out. I guess
this is another wrinkle for you.
