You can edit /etc/mc/mc.keymap to restore the ctrl-x behaviour in file manager:
ExtMap1 = ctrl-x

BTW, why did you edit only misc/mc.keymap.default in that ticket and not
also misc/mc.keymap. Imho, both should be fixed.
