Yes. Unfortunately, there are no configuration options to control
spaces and tabs visibility in 4.6.2 at all.
... and you really are advised to upgrade to the latest stable release.
- mcedit displays tabs and spaces hiding cursor and making editing hard
as hell.
(I use Gnome Terminal)
