Problems compiling mc under Mac OS X

Hi everyone, first post on this list.

I'm trying to compile mc under Mac OS X 10.4.11 on a PPC platform.
I ran configure and got the source set up, but make runs and errors
out when it gets to tree.c and tree.h. The error follows:

tree.c:56: error: static declaration of 'tree_navigation_flag' follows
non-static declaration
tree.h:28: error: previous declaration of 'tree_navigation_flag' was here
make[2]: *** [tree.o] Error 1
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make: *** [all] Error 2

Does anyone know what may be wrong that I can possibly fix to get mc to
compile? I'm thinking that whatever the static declaration is in the
wrong spot and should be moved.

Thanks!
