Pseudo-graphic border

Hello, gurus.
 Please, a small question - I made the new installation (FC3, KDE) and run MC 
(the great SW!!). Everything works, except that borders on the panels are 
drawn by 'a umlaut' instead of pseudo-graphic (lines) symbols.
 But this happens only when I open MC locally. When I telnet into another 
computer (from the same terminal window -Konsole!), I receive normal 
line-border as I expect it to be.
 How to have lines drawn always?

 I shall be very glad for any help.
