This shouldn't be necessary at all since there are no key sequences to
cancel in mcedit anyway.

If you want, Ctrl-g will not be recognized at all in the emacs mode.

This would probably be perfect. If ctrl-g simply wouldn't result
losing unsaved editing work i'd pe perfectly happy. :-)
