Please get 4.6.0-pre1 or the latest snapshot.  There have been many 
relevant fixes since then, including syntax highlighting with ncurses, 
better Cygwin support and warning fixes.

I know, I should release 4.6.0, but it's always 6 issues away from the 
release, and the new release-critical bugs appear at the same rate as they 
are fixed.

That said, I believe that 4.6.0-pre1 is much more stable than 4.5.55,
judging by the bugreports.  The snapshot should be even better.
