It seems that your script would never report directories in the archive.
What's the reason? Looking and the code of unalz (CUnAlz::IsFolder), it
seems to me that the directories can be stored in the archive.
Why don't you use the "-d" option to avoid "cd" in mcualz_copyout()?
I have put the script to

I don't think it should be added to the main distribution because the
compression software (ALZip) is not free and not really popular, so mc
would in effect advertise it.
Also, unalz doesn't seem to be mature because it cannot extract files to
stdout. Creating a temporary directory for every file would slow down
copying large amounts of files in mc.
