zh_TW.Big5.po errors

On my linux box (RH71) I get following errors during
po/gmo files compilation:

file=./`echo zh_TW.Big5 | sed 's,.*/,,'`.gmo \
  && rm -f $file && /usr/bin/msgfmt --statistics -o $file zh_TW.Big5.po
zh_TW.Big5.po:678: illegal control sequence
zh_TW.Big5.po:683: illegal control sequence
zh_TW.Big5.po:688: illegal control sequence
...
too many errors, aborting

Though in my other linux box with another distribution that's ok.
I'm forces to manually exclide zh_TW.Big5 compilation from the Makefile.
