Hello Q:

I am not sure how to boil down this release into 5 hot topics. Where
does one get that information?

But most of the improvements seem to be leaning towards bring the user
experience to some sort of Gnome ideal of simplicity and
functionality.

Assuming the notes that have been posted
http://live.gnome.org/TwoPointSeventeen/ReleaseNotes are accurate and
up to date, and the NEWS and Changelog from the release candidates, I
planned on finishing my draft by this sunday evening. You can already
seem where I am heading if you look here:
http://live.gnome.org/TwoPointSeventeen/ReleaseNotes/Draft.

Thanks for keeping me focused on this.

Gervais, how is your progress? We are approaching the red alert.

Have you identified the 5-6 hot topics of this release? Your bet for
the main one? Share your thoughts as soon as possible, no matter how
unfinished they are.

Once the release notes are finished we migrate them to DocBook and
then the i18n team translates them into *a lot* of languages. This is
why we need to have a text delivered several days before the release.

In other words, we need to have the text finished by... the end of
Monday. Per haps we can extend 1-2 days more, anything beyond that is
red-red alert.

Gervais, I recommend you to come up with these bare ideas like *now*
and then let us help you with improvements. There is some experienced
GNOMErs around and they can provide concise advice. The only good
thing of not having time is that we won't discuss much.

What can we do in a little more than a weekend? Write one single
brilliant page with good graphics/screenshots. Each selected item
would be a paragraph with illustration, then we can have additional
1-2 paragrapgs summarizing other important sub-items. Then About GNOME
paragraph and links to relevant pages, being the first one
http://live.gnome.org/TwoPointSeventeen/ReleaseNotes , where insiders
can find the details.
