Yes, I'd prefer both left and right edges to be aligned. It would be
nice too if the top and bottom lined up with the foot.

When I open my new .svg in Inkscape (on FC3 and Ubuntu 5.04), the right
edges are wildly different and don't even fit on the canvas anymore.

When I open Jame's original, it's not so bad, but they really are not
aligned.

But if the format or application does not attempt to constrain them then
there's no way that they should be expected to line up, because fonts
are different everywhere.
