My only objection is that most people new to linux, not sure if they 
want to try it or want to try it out first would prefer LiveCDs to full 
installs.

You may also like to setup a laptop in a fairly secure physical 
environment so that people can have a play.

Unless those 1200+ CDs include LiveCDs. :)
