Can I do it using OpenStreetMap website?

Thank you for the reminder!

We currently use OpenStreetMap to get open map data. And they record
points as latitude/longitude.
For altitude they rely on tagging by us users, using the "ele" tag,
see: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Altitude

We have started using the Overpass API to get more information, and it
would be entirely possible for us to get the ele-tag, where it exists.
I have no idea how many places has the tag set. But if we start
including it maybe you can help out by adding it to places? :)
